5 social media experts and bloggers worth following
I like to keep up to date with what is happening in social media and technology. This list contains people I highly recommend for the valuable content they regularly share with their followers. Their email newsletters contain useful and current advice about the ever changing world of social media. Some of them also publish podcasts. Many run programmes and they’ve all helped me to grow my business and, in turn, to help you the people who follow me.
1 Kim Garst of Boom Social
Based in Florida, Kim founded Boom Social and is becoming one of the best known social media experts in the world. She has an Inner Circle (which I am a member of) and regularly shares ebooks and articles with tips on all the social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and more recently Periscope. She organized one of the first Periscope meetups recently.
She’s also the author of ‘Will the real you please stand up’ – how to stand out when using social media. You can buy your copy by clicking on the image on the right.
She gives away masses of free content to people who sign up for her newsletters.
Rebecca of RebekahRadice.com lives in Los Angeles and regularly publishes attractive looking posts filled with useful content. She covers a wide range of channels and subjects including social media strategy, social media etiquette, creating visual content and how to boost engagement. She is a contributor to Social Media Examiner (see Michael Seltzner below).
Her advice is good for beginners and also experts can learn something.
She has one of the top social media blogs globally and is one of the Top 10 social media bloggers for 2015.
3 Michael Seltzner of Social Media Examiner
Michael is one of the most influential people in social media today. He founded Social Media Examiner, the world’s largest online social media magazine. More than 90 experts regularly contribute to the site which features two podcasts, the Social Media Examiner Show runs daily and the weekly Social Media Marketing podcast plus email newsletters. The articles in the email newsletters are generally around a single topic and go into greater depth than a lot of others. They also do annual reports on the state of social media.
The Social Media Marketing Society provides online training and a forum to share experiences. Enrolment is closed until 2016.
Veronica Pullen is from the UK (she lives on the Isle of Wight, otherwise known as The Island). She has built up a massive fanbase and specialises in helping small businesses share their message with their clients. She has lots of low cost programs and also does mentoring.
Jay Baer has recently changed the way he sends out newsletters so each is around a particular topic or channel. For example, one day may be content curation, another may be Twitter. In addition there are podcasts and lots of other advice on the website.
